Tunbridge Wells Churches Street Teams

Life has changed over the last 2 1/2 years with the whole world being affected. The constructive changes made by Tunbridge Wells Borough Council has resulted in the majority of our local homeless people being housed.

These improved and efficient systems, along with the Mosaic drop-in centre, has meant the need for our services has virtually been eradicated.

Street Teams have provided food, drinks, love, care, and practical assistance to the homeless and vulnerable since 1994, so it is a positive step, albeit tinged with a little sadness, that we have come to a natural end and it is time to say goodbye.

We could not have done it without the amazing volunteers and generous donors, so a huge thank you to all involved in the past 22 years.
Mosaic is now open

"Mosaic is the new day centre in Tunbridge Wells which  hope to open shortly. The building has been completely renovated with a brand new kitchen, shower room, washing machine and tumble dryer along with separate rooms for counselling and advice. We do believe it will be a wonderful and exciting addition to the town and the community.

The soup bowls will be run daily from here, as opposed to in the church halls and excitingly we are hoping to offer lots of different support and advice.  For example, we will have people available to help with pre-employment support and CVs, financial/debt advice, housing, and health advice.

We will also provide cooking lessons and help with reading, writing and English language lessons.  Obviously, it is early days and no doubt there will be some trial and error involved but we will do our best to put in place as much as possible.

We think the beauty of Mosaic lies in its informal space, hopefully it will attract people who may be put off going to a more formal setting. We aim to make Mosaic a very warm and inviting space and we will be open to anyone who is in need.

We are so lucky that we have so many kind people willing to help and it is always very much appreciated.

You may still see people begging on the streets, some saying there is no help on offer for them.  Please be assured this is not the case. Everyone is offered help, but unfortunately some are not yet willing or ready to engage.
